Cool Nerdy Stuff

Home Ask Submit Archive GPOY's 365

My name is Ryan, figure I should mention that. I am engineering college student, currently trying to finish his senior year. I obviously consider myself a nerdy gamer geek of sorts, I've got a number of tattoos, I make funny faces. I'm a big supporter and advocate for the queer (LGBTQIA) community, and there was something else I really wanted to put here but I can't remember at all. Feel free to ask me anything, I'm pretty open to answering dumb shit.

I basically just post art (usually of a darker nature, and usually crediting the artist), anime and video game related posts, sciencey things, Doctor Who, comics, and general generalness. I almost never follow back, though I will most likely check out your tumblr and IF you are worthy, I might follow you back.

I've made a few friends through tumblr, so feel free to try and become one by messaging me!

POLLINATOR
[noun]
the biotic agent (vector) that moves pollen from the male anthers of a flower to the female stigma of a flower to accomplish fertilisation or syngamy of the female gamete in the ovule of the flower by the male gamete from the pollen grain. 8 Beautiful Bioluminescent Creatures From the Sea

While a handful of land animals can create their own light, homemade luminescence is the rule rather than the exception in the open ocean’s dark waters.

Researchers estimate that between 80 and 90 percent of deep-dwelling animals are bioluminous, creating light by mixing the pigment luciferin with luciferase, the enzyme that makes it glow. The light tends to green and blue, colors that travel far in seawater. Glowing helps attract mates, lure prey or confound predators.

Many of these animals live thousands of meters deep and are difficult for scientists to find and study. Here are some of the prettiest — and strangest — glowing creatures of the seas.
